Valentines

Dear reader,

Valentine's day and one gets to thinking of roses, naturally.

Well they are such lovely things. You look at them and they look just excellent. Even close up they're just wonderful. But try and get hold of them and my they don't half have some spikey thorns. They also seem to leave some kind of barb under your skin which really irritates. And as every gardner knows....nothing can grow where roses have been.

Hmmm now why don't we get up a camapign to have dandelions for V. day

Any takers?

Been high up and white

Yes Dear Reader

Once more the passing of my birthday was marked by the annual trip to Megeve. A small but very select few managed to make it this year and an excellent time was had by me. My huge thanks go to my fellow holiday makers on this occasion.

Megeve was ski-ing very nicely this year. Two days of dull and snowy weather with 4 days of light powdery stuff under crystal clear blue skies. Popped into Javens a few times and had missing man for Pinga and spent more time over Rochebrune side due to apartment being right next to Rochebrune slopes! Big fellow has a tendency towards being energetic and occasionally will make me ski past a cafe without actually stopping. Clearly, that's not quite in the spirit of "extreme cafe skiing" but still it does get a few more runs in.

I have been and looked at other places in Europe but I do still think Megeve has a lot going for it. Given the chance right now I'd go back there in a flash.

Back here in 59 North it's still in deepest winter. My team are becoming jaded and some recent resource swaps are proving to be rather awkward. I guess I don't blame people for wanting to leave here. It's cold and tough, and if you're not on top of your game the client can really maul people. Its like watching a tiger watching for a lame wildebeest in the pack, and it's hard to keep an eye on all the pack. Still, I try.

Relevant to nothing in particular...Several times recently I have been struck by the fact that I am very much a creature of habit. I hope that might make me a reliable and constant person to know. Who knows. Perhaps I am just boring!!

I leave you all with a picture of what must surely be one of the most stunning and truly awesome mountains in Europe.....and this time wearing a scarf instead of a hat!!

Bye for now, Dear reader, wherever you are.
