Dear Captain
Dear Reader,
On the morning of 21 October 1805 I do believe the following message was sent:
"HMS Ajax to HMS Victory - One of the small cannons on our lower decks has broken loose and is now firing at random. I have sent men down to secure but the cannon went off and peppered my men with burning wadding...now they won't go near it. Not sure who the gunner is either. Request you send a frigate alongside and grapple the bugger overboard before it does more damage"
I know how he felt!
Good Night.

Admiralty to captain:
Yes, we've had problems with these new-fangled guns before....and nobody will go near them. Split from the fleet at 08.00.....fire off two salvos for recognition and Frigate Juna will run alongside and attempt grappling as you suggest. If this fails, do not..repaeat...do not engage battle with gun unsecured.
